Conchango has designed the site – www.virginmobile.com to be consistent with the Virgin brand, offer users an easy and intuitive experience, and promote sales of pay-as-you-go and contract products and services.

The previous site required improvement in various areas, including navigation, and general ease of use. The site now combines a strong, edgy design, with intuitive interface and back-end technology that ensures that it is faster and more reliable. A key element of the new technology is the introduction of a state-of-the-art content management system allowing much easier modification and updating of content.

Contracts can be bought & upgraded online

Another change to the website is the new capability for users to purchase and upgrade contracts online. This is a key objective for Virgin Mobile; to date it has primarily targeted the pay-as-you-go customer, but by broadening its portfolio it can cater for the needs of all of its core 18-35 year old target audience and beyond.

Brendan Cooling, Head of Online for Virgin Mobile commented: “Virgin Mobile is competing against companies with very deep pockets, so to remain strongly competitive we need to offer great value products and services while delivering supreme customer service while keeping our overheads to a minimum. As such, online is a vital channel for us.”

Enhancing the customer experience while reducing service costs

“Our key aim was to provide customers with a site that they can visit to easily purchase phones or contracts, top-up credit and receive customer support," Cooling continued. “By making these changes we’re giving customers an easy-to-use, end-to-end experience from one place, while reducing service costs.”

Conchango was selected as Virgin Mobile’s interactive media partner for its integrated approach to web design and build. It balances technical excellence with customer needs to deliver a wholly positive user experience. In addition, Conchango has a strong understanding of the Virgin brand following its work on the Virgin Atlantic website.

Paul Dawson, Head of Interactive Media for Conchango said: “The team spent a great deal of time finding the balance between Virgin Mobile’s business objectives and understanding what its customers wanted from the site. Following much user testing and refinement we’re now confident that the new site will deliver on both scores.”
